I. Statement of Purpose

I have chosen the unit 5.3 “Easter a Time of Hope and New Life”. It has three sub units. This unit will focus mainly on how Jesus Christ our Lord created miracle by raising a dead man name Lazarus as well as how he had raisin again after His death. This chapter will not only help the first year high school student to learn more about the holiness and miraculous deeds of Jesus but also help them to apply it in their everyday life. This unit will focus on what is the importance of Easter and how it can be applied in their daily life. The unit and the lesson is also applicable to the age range of the target class level, first year high school are prone to so many personal and family problem since this are the student who are just starting to enter the transitional period from being a child to teen age.

Eastern a Time of Hope and New Life is divided into three sections: the life and message of Jesus brought hope and new life to people; the death and resurrection of Jesus offers life in union with God; and during the Easter Vigil the Church celebrates the death and Resurrection of Jesus.

The first said section will deal on how Jesus Christ enlightened the life of those people around Him. It will also focus about experiences that bring hope in the middle of uncertainty and grief.

The second section will deal with the belief about eternal life. It will also focus to the belief of Christian regarding the importance of death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The third and the last section tackle about the present practice of Catholic Church regarding Easter Vigil. It will help them to see the real essence of Easter, not just the usual Eater egg hunt party but it should be deeper than that.

Before starting the lesson about the chosen unit, students will be asked to have a notebook that will serve as their diary. Their feelings and emotion will be written here as well as all the things that they have learned and what they have reflected in a particular day of lesson. They can also write there their past and present problems with the connection to the lesson for that day. By doing this, I will gain their trust as well as attention and help them to absorb and apply the main concept of the chosen unit.

At the end of the each unit I will require the class to attend a mass that will help them to feel the ambiance of being inside the house of our God. I will also schedule them to talk to a priest for one-on-one confession session as well as reflections for the whole class.

Group participation will also help us to be more intact and be more united so I will divide the class in a group and will assign them different children literatures that are connected to the topic and will let them present it on their own creativity and ideas.

Teaching and Learning

The entire lesson will be divided into three sections or parts. These parts will be tackled for several days. There will be different activities each day; this is to maintain the height of interest of the students. For the first day, an essay about what are their knowledge regarding the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ will be assigned as the first activity. This essay will serve as a diagnostic test that will measure the knowledge of the entire class and will also help me to adjust if necessary the planned lesson.
